FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How long will it take?

I might suggest that we have a certain number of sessions, then a review. However some clients prefer to have a fixed number of sessions.

  • How long is each session?

Each session lasts for 50 minutes. However the assessment session will usually be longer. This is where you will be able to assess whether you would like to work with me, as well as my own assessment of the issues discussed.

  • Will I have to come for a long time?

Clients sometimes worry about this, and of course clients only come on a voluntary basis. Other clients do not know how long they will need and may prefer an open contract whereby relationships and issues can be explored in a deeper and more meaningful way. However whatever the contract we agree to the ending will be a mutual decision.

  • Will I have to go into painful details from my past?

No, you will never have to talk about things you don't want to, or that you are not ready to address. But you may sometimes find it useful to look at past situations so that you can realise they are not part of your present life.

  • Will you tell me what you want me to talk about during the session?

Not at all. Each session is for you alone. It is your own space, to talk about whatever you need to at the time.

  • Supposing I don't know what to say in the session?

That is perfectly understandable and there will be no pressure on you to say anything. Counselling takes place in an unusual way in that you will talk about what is troubling you, but I do not tell you about myself, other than that I am a caring, unbiased professional therapist, and that everything discussed in our sessions is completely confidential.

  • I feel my problem is too small (or too big) for counselling therapy?

There is no judgment in counselling therapy. If your problem causes you worry and anxiety then it will be heard by me without judgment or conditions.

  • How much will it cost?

This will be discussed in the first session. My fees are £50.00 per session. However I do take account of extenuating circumstances eg loss of job or divorce.

  • Do you offer other approaches?

I have trained in Emotional Freedom Technique. This process uses the body's energy meridians to help release persistent negative issues, both physical and emotional. Click here to find out more about this amazing process.

My latest training offers clients Lifespan Integration sessions. This is a state of the art process which is based on the latest research from the astounding world of neuroscience. click here to find out more.

  • Will my doctor need to know, as I have already been prescribed medication?

I will need your doctor's name and address in case of emergency only. I will never disclose information to any doctor without first asking your permission. Most prescribed medications do not interfere with the counselling process
